Another way I make my work go faster is by swallowing my pride but not re-inventing the wheel. As the programmer, I'm often tempted to rewrite code in order to turn it into "better". The trouble with which isn't that I end up working slower and taking longer resolve a problem that's been solved in advance of when. And I do not get paid extra for that time, anyway.
